Just remember that since it's a laptop, you're going to be paying somewhere around 2.5 times as much as a desktop with similar performance. So if you spent $500 on a good desktop, it's probably as good as a $1250 laptop, assuming you have a monitor&STUFF.

Sunny, I think for a desktop you probably want to put in your own graphics card. The whole process can be annoying, but rewarding. The card will be an additional $50 to $100, but you can buy a desktop cheaper than the one you found, as long as it supports the card. It takes some looking around but you can get a pretty badass system for under $500 (including the graphics card). One of the best bang for your buck graphics cards I believe is the Radeon HD 4670. It once sold for $49, but I think it actually costs more now. Just for comparison, the card performs 4.1x better than the one in rush's laptop (no offense) in the PassMark benchmark, which is a good indication on how it will perform in games. http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_list.php

ofc a dedicated video card smokes an integrated, thats not big news. he just said he wanted under 500 and something easy to get going, so i suggested that.
you can build a hell of a pc nowadays for 500 bucks... thats just not what he was looking for

Yeah, but there's no way that a Mobility 4250 can maintain 125 fps in QL with decent settings, and the Mobility 4250 is the best card any of us have seen in a laptop under $500.

By decent settings I mean:

native resolution (definitely not less than 1280x720)
geometry detail- medium
texture- Ultra or high
Lightmap on
Post process: on or off
bloom: off

that'd work, lol
